In 2018, Project ACTS, in collaboration with TOUCH Community Services, organized a grocery run for elderly residents, providing them with an opportunity to shop for their own essentials while enjoying a day out. Held at Kallang Wave Mall, this initiative focused on promoting independence, mobility, and social interaction among seniors.
Instead of simply receiving pre-packed supplies, the elderly were able to personally select their groceries, ensuring they received items suited to their preferences and dietary needs. Volunteers assisted them throughout the shopping experience, offering guidance, carrying their items, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip.
Beyond just providing essentials, this initiative was also about companionship and dignity. Volunteers engaged in conversations, shared stories, and built meaningful connections with the seniors, making them feel valued and heard.
Through this heartwarming event, Project ACTS reinforced the importance of empowering our elderly community and fostering a culture of care, respect, and active engagement.
